Canberra: Race 6 @ 4:20pm

SHOW A STAR has thrived since arriving at the Bjorn Baker stable. Fell just short of making it three straight wins when second over 1500m at Rosehill. Looks well suited here under Quality conditions and is only one of four horses who sit inside the handicap. Should be hard fit at this stage of his prep. Only minor query is whether he runs out a strong ten furlongs. Record over the trip currently stands at two placings from four starts. ALMOST COURT has been racing well with a dead heat Sydney win before a brave effort at Randwick last time. Will go forward and can give a sight again. JACQUINOT BAY could also be in it for a long way. SELECTIONS: Win bet #2 Show A Star from #10 and #4.

Clare: Race 4 @ 3:15pm

COMMANDING DIVA drops in grade and has been racing well. Won his only run this track/trip and looks the one racing at peak and despite the weight. A LITTLE CHUNKY won a 56 at Gawler and had been threatening. Gets the claim and will go well again. CALL ME PENNY ran better placing against the above last start and can make the finish again. SELECTIONS: # 1 Commanding Diva to win. # 2 A Little Bit Chunky the quinella.

Grafton: Race 6 @ 4:05pm

SNITZ made it three wins in a row when resuming with a strong victory at Doomben. Won his only start here and is unbeaten at 1400m. Has trialed since his first up win so can improve. RUNWAY READY is also in top form and completed the hat trick when scoring at Ipswich last time. Has strong credentials at the course and the distance. NORTHERN KNIGHT fought on well to place first up. Won three of his four starts at his maiden campaign. Contender. IGGY THE MOOCHER is lightly raced with good upside. SELECTIONS: #2 Snitz to win again off good city form from #4 and #12.

Echuca: Race 7 @ 4:35.pm

GLENROWAN PRINCE improved again beating a good field at Wangaratta off city runs. Did it comfortably from the speed and will take beating again using the low gate. CHA CHA KING is also speedy and went all the way last time at Wagga. Draws to get a trail and looks right in it. SARACINO is ready to fire for Moroney and TRADESMAN is a big watch resuming for Weir, but hasn’t won for a long while. SELECTIONS: # 6 Glenrowan Prince ran a big peak the latest and is the one to beat.

Stony Creek: Race 8 @ 5.25pm

NO REWARD improved sharply at Sandown running her best race and has been a strong trial winner since. She can use the draw and looks the one to beat. KEEP COURTING won well strongly-backed at Moe and is was deserved. Sits handy and gets the chance to go on. EDUCATE is third-up and ready to show his best. SELECTIONS: A good contest but # 9 No Reward ticks most boxes.

R6 CANBERRA 11 March 2018
Canberra Cup , 2000m
Race Synopsis: Consistent Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones-trained gelding Almost Court is now the winner of seven of 15 starts and he did well in winning his first at stakes level here. He began well and soon went to the front. He then travelled nicely at a steady tempo (first 1400m 1:29.91), picked up the pace from the 600m, grabbed a break at the 300m and then held on to score despite tiring over the latter stages. Admiral Jello raced in fifth place, on the rails, got through to third at the 200m and made late ground in the sprint home for (long head) second. Get On The Grange had a good trip in third place, went to second at the 300m and then kept battling on for a close-up third.
